| This site will provide background resources for your work on the OCR anthology Opening Lines. It focuses particularly on the "1914 - 18 War (ii) section. These resources are not exhaustive, but will help in your study of the poems and in your preparation for the GCSE English Literature examination. |

This term we are studying the poems in The 1914-18 War (ii) section. We will read and discuss the poems in class, but clearly it will help if you read and research the poems outside the lessons. It will be helpful to have some background knowledge of the writers and of conditions in the First World War. However, the most important thing is that you understand the poems and the techniques of the poets. |
